Three Projects Up For Gardenista's Considered Design Awards

by Ben Bowen

We have three projects proudly entered into the 2018 Considered Design Awards by Gardenista. All three are projects we have profiled here, and are in our portfolio as well.

Project 1: A Modern Garden for a Midcentury Modern Home

This design-build project was designed by Ben Bowen and completed about 5 years ago. The concept is a modern take on a Japanese dry garden. Granite chips create a "sea" with islands of plantings and boulders floating in it.

Project 2: Modern Japanese Garden

A collaboration with Sadafumi Uchiyama, this small property was transformed into one of the most ambitious outdoor spaces we have ever done. Literally every square inch of outdoor space was touched. The centerpiece is a formal koi pond, with an elevated deck and slate patio flanking each side.

Project 3: Midcentury Entry Courtyard

The old walkway was ripped up, replaced by bluestone. A dry garden flanks the walkway, with large boulders and a bluestone zig zag path.
