Japanese Garden Restoration by Ross NW Watergardens
Our client moved to West Linn, OR from Hawaii. They fell in love with a "modern" home from the 1970's. Situated on nearly an acre, this modern home had the remnants of a classic Portland Japanese garden.
I am sure it was a beautiful garden at one time. But over the years it had really suffered. Plants had been sheared into balls. The water feature had been taken apart and put back together badly. Random plants had sprouted in odd places. Trees had been mangled by storms.
Our client wanted to remove what couldn't be salvaged, save everything possible, and then add new elements. Our landscape designer, Ben Bowen, took on the challenge of redesigning this mature landscape.
The primary new element is a forested fire pit with a stone seating bench. Check out the pictures of this garden below. I hope you will agree that it is well on it's way to recovery! And phase 2 starts this winter...
This garden restoration was profiled by the Portland Tribune.
